Prepared from ONEDECORE's interior-planning framework and reviewed against current homeowner questions. Project-specific recommendations require site measurements and an approved scope.
Start with use and maintenance
Daily cooking, hot cookware, staining ingredients and cleaning habits matter more than showroom appearance. Ask how the selected surface should be cleaned and what can permanently mark it.
Plan sink and hob cut-outs early
Cut-outs affect support, edge distances and cabinet planning below. Final appliance and sink models should be coordinated before fabrication wherever possible.
Understand joints and long runs
Large or turning worktops may require joints depending on slab size, access and layout. Discuss where joints are likely to fall instead of assuming an uninterrupted surface.
Coordinate the backsplash
The junction between worktop and wall finish needs a deliberate detail. Tile, stone upstand or other backsplash choices affect cleaning and the final visual line.
Check responsibility at interfaces
Clarify who supplies the sink, makes cut-outs, installs the worktop, connects plumbing and handles any wall preparation. Interface gaps are common sources of quotation confusion.
