Interior Material Specification Checklist for Homeowners

Words such as premium, branded and high quality are not specifications. A useful material schedule makes important choices identifiable later.

Reviewed by: ONEDECORE Design Team

Prepared from ONEDECORE's interior-planning framework and reviewed against current homeowner questions. Project-specific recommendations require site measurements and an approved scope.

Cabinet core

Record the board or plywood brand and grade where applicable, thickness, intended location and any moisture-related requirement. Different parts of a project may justify different materials.

Shutters and finishes

Record the shutter substrate, finish type, brand or code where relevant, surface texture and edge treatment. A finish sample should correspond to the written schedule.

Hardware

Identify hinge, drawer and lift-up systems by brand or series where the selection affects function or price. Note soft-close requirements and load-related hardware.

Kitchen worktops and wet interfaces

Record worktop material and thickness, sink type, cut-outs, backsplash treatment and responsibility for plumbing connections. Wet-zone detailing matters as much as the visible finish.

Accessories and exclusions

List baskets, organizers, lighting, handles and internal fittings separately. Also state appliances, loose furniture and site work that are not included.
