Prepared from ONEDECORE's interior-planning framework and reviewed against current homeowner questions. Project-specific recommendations require site measurements and an approved scope.
Start with ceiling height
Every dropped layer uses vertical space. In rooms that already feel low, a perimeter detail or surface-mounted lighting may preserve more openness than a full ceiling.
Use it to coordinate lighting
Recessed lights, cove lighting and curtain pockets need a planned relationship with furniture and circulation. A lighting plan should precede decorative ceiling geometry.
Coordinate AC and services
Ducts, drain lines, access panels, sprinklers or other building services can determine ceiling zones. Maintenance access should remain possible after finishing.
Avoid unnecessary patterns
Complex ceiling shapes can date quickly and add joints, labour and lighting points. A restrained detail often integrates better with cabinetry and wall finishes.
Plan before wardrobes and curtains
Full-height wardrobes, lofts, curtain tracks and ceiling drops meet at the top of the room. Resolve those junctions in drawings rather than on installation day.
